Culture
The present-day Église Saint-Jacques dates from the 17th century and probably reuses materials from a medieval structure. Its façade and portal have a monumental appearance and are marked by a certain Baroque spirit. The western section of the building, including the façade, portal and bell tower, has been partially protected as a historic monument by decree of 27 July 1993.
Hiking and Landscape
The Montner–Força-Réal hiking route is a circular trail starting in Montner. It leads to a former chapel, from which there is a panoramic view of the sea and the mountains. At the entrance to Montner, there is a car park for hikers in front of the multi-service shop.
The Chemin de Véronique runs through the vineyards around Montner; along the route are vineyard huts and the ruins of former estates. The Força-Réal botanical nature trail is characterised by a remarkable diversity of flora, fauna and landscapes.
Wine and Terroir
The Domaine Mont-Noir winery is a 20-hectare family-run business in Roussillon, in the heart of the Catalan lands, and has been farmed organically since 2005. The entire Domaine Deveza vineyard is also cultivated using organic methods that combine traditional and innovative techniques.
The stones of this terroir are very brittle and permeable, enabling the vines to develop deep roots. The distinctive terroir around Montner produces fine, fruity and pleasant wines.
