Culture and History

The Eglise Saint-Michel d'Ayet was listed as a historic monument by decree of 17 April 1950. It has a Moorish-style bell tower with three bells. In Bethmale, the church is located on the R.D. 17.

Peyro Quillado is a megalith in a meadow. On the route from Ayet to Lac de Bethmale, you reach it 20 minutes after setting off.

Cuisine

Bethmale cheese is made from cow's milk. It is also produced in varieties made from sheep's milk, goat's milk, or a mixture of these types of milk.

Bethmale also refers to a traditional cheese-making method. Originally, shepherds made the cheese directly on the summer pastures after milking.
