Since 1930, the Château de Foix has housed the collections of the Musée départemental de l’Ariège.
The Château de Foix also contains an interactive departmental museum that presents the lives of the Counts of Foix and their wives. Rooms with reconstructed historical furnishings include a guardroom, a banquet hall and the count’s bedchamber.
In the outdoor areas, interpreters demonstrate medieval weapons, stoneworking, blacksmithing, as well as military and construction machinery.
The Abbey Church of Saint-Volusien has been classified as a historic monument since 1964. It is a Southern Gothic church from the 12th century with a broad nave, a large polygonal choir with nine rectangular chapels, and Romanesque remains of the first church.
The Foix Médiéval tour takes visitors through the historic centre of the medieval town of Foix.

Hiking and nature
The long-distance hiking trail Chemin des Bonshommes (GR-107) begins in Foix and runs for 224 kilometres to Berga in Catalonia.
Les Terrasses du Pech offer extensive views of the Château de Foix, the comital town and the Barguillère Valley. They can be reached on foot from the historic centre and the railway station.
The Les Terrasses du Pech hike is moderately difficult, 3.2 kilometres long, involves 230 metres of ascent and takes two hours.
Because of their high biodiversity value, Les Terrasses du Pech have been designated a Natura 2000 site.
