History
The monument in Castelnau-Durban was inaugurated on 5 October 1975. It features a sculpture in which a sword breaks a swastika, thereby bringing an end to National Socialism in Ariège. The monument commemorates the events of 22 August 1944 in the village and nearby Rimont and honours civilian victims, members of the Resistance, and Spanish guerrilla fighters.
