Aulus-Les-Bains: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Two clearly recognisable lines meet in Aulus-les-Bains: the GR10 passes through the village, while the first documented traces of its thermal history date back to 1824.

The Aulus-les-Bains Tourist Information Office is less than a ten-minute walk from the “AULUS-LES-BAINS – Centre/Rond-Point” bus stop.

Nature and outdoor activities

In Aulus-les-Bains, you can go hiking, cycling, mountain biking, trail running and canyoning, as well as skiing or snowshoeing in winter.

The route to Étang du Garbet is signposted as 11 kilometres there and back. Étang du Garbet is the largest natural lake in the Aulus-les-Bains valley; the hike there begins in Agneserre in Aulus-les-Bains. After crossing the Plateau de Souillou, Route F – Vallée du Fouillet reaches the GR10.

Culture and remembrance

The Aulus-les-Bains museum includes a memorial wall for deportees, as well as life stories of Jewish people under compulsory residence orders and of the villagers who helped them. The memorial stele in Aulus-les-Bains commemorates 686 Jewish people who were placed under compulsory residence orders in Aulus-les-Bains during the Second World War.

The “Espace muséal et mémoriel” documents the history of Aulus-les-Bains from 1942 to 1943.

Thermal tradition

The first Grand Hôtel in Aulus-les-Bains was built from 1870 onwards on the initiative of Auguste Calvet. During the same period, Calvet was also involved in the use of the thermal springs. The Aqua-détente facility is open to the public from the age of three; proof of age is required.
