Culture and history

The church of Saint-Priest-sous-Aixe is a Romanesque building that was rebuilt in the Gothic period. It houses a 17th-century altarpiece that was altered in the 19th century, as well as a Romanesque granite holy water font.

At the Moulins du Daumail, traces of a grain mill with seven pairs of millstones dating from the 13th century have been preserved. In 1840, the Moulins du Daumail were converted into so-called stone or pebble mills, which supplied the porcelain industry with processed kaolin slurry and enamel.

Trails

The “Balade en forêt d’Aixe – Les Loges” route follows an old Roman road that is now used as a forest track.

The Sentier des Étangs is an easy 3.5-kilometre trail with 119 metres of elevation gain and green markings. The Parcours de santé du Coeur is a 6-kilometre trail of moderate difficulty with 192 metres of elevation gain and red heart-shaped markings.
