Culture

The Église Saint-Roch is a 17th-century church. Inside, there are painted and gilded wooden statues of Saint Roch, Saint John the Baptist, the Virgin and Child, and a bishop. The church also houses altarpieces and a painting depicting the Resurrection of Christ and the Annunciation.

The Pont de Beissat is a Gothic bridge from the 13th century and has been listed as a historic monument since 1970. It has four arches: a semicircular central arch and three pointed arches. In the past, the Pont de Beissat connected Bellac with Le Dorat.

Activities

The Domaine de Gauchoux has four international courses for mounted archery. Beginner and advanced mounted archery courses are offered there throughout the year.

The La Roche Vigeanne hiking trail leads to the La Roche Vigeanne rock and its cirque above the Vincou River. Along the way, there are numerous panoramas, some of which have a distinctly wild appearance. The trail is steep, narrow and potentially slippery; sturdy footwear is recommended.

The Chemin de la croix de la Pile is primarily intended for hiking. Riders and mountain bikers are also permitted to use it, but do so at their own risk. The trail begins at a car park near Châtaignier; access is via the RD675 towards Bellac.

Nature

The bends of the Vincou at Chélipeau are dominated by the Cirque de Peyrat. The wildlife and plant life of Peyrat-de-Bellac are influenced by the two rivers Vincou and Gartempe.
