Beaumont-Du-Lac: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Culture

The Centre International d’Art et du Paysage was designed by the architects Aldo Rossi and Xavier Fabre between 1987 and 1991. The building has been awarded the “Architecture Contemporaine Remarquable” distinction. Every year, the Centre presents three different temporary exhibitions and offers numerous events, workshops and guided tours.

The Bois de Sculptures on Île de Vassivière features land art works among centuries-old trees. The village square in Beaumont-du-Lac is also adorned with works by the sculptor Pierre Digan. The Église Saint Pierre houses a 14th-century altar cross that is displayed in exhibitions on art from Limousin.

At the historic “Pierre à pain” oven, traditional breads baked over a wood fire are offered seasonally.

Nature

The Tourbière de la route élevée is a protected Natura 2000 wetland. It is visible from the lakeside road at the intersection of the D222 and D43.

The Jardin des Simples is located on Île de Vassivière and is an organically managed garden. It was created by producers of aromatic and medicinal plants from the Syndicat Simples en Limousin.

The Utopia land art hiking trail begins in Beaumont-du-Lac. Île de Vassivière can be reached on foot all year round. The Circuit de Nergout is a hiking trail with numerous views of Lac de Vassivière.

Plage de Nergout is a supervised beach in Beaumont-du-Lac. Plage de Nergout also has a family fishing course.
