Culture
The altarpiece of Saint John the Baptist has three registers, each with three panels. The Sainte-Marie Church is a Romanesque building with a single nave covered by a pointed barrel vault without transverse arches. Workshops of Baroque sculptors were active in the Sainte-Marie Church from 1663 to 1723. The Sainte-Marie Church is opened on request.
Maison Vergès has been preserved as a complete complex, but is currently divided into two apartments. The former castle of Espira was very probably built within the monastery complex in the 14th, 15th, or 16th century. On the façade of Maison Vergès are the remains of a former brattice, identifiable by two stone corbels carved from marble; a former watchtower stands at the northeastern corner of the castle.
