Nature
In the Rouvergue state forest, the Sentier d'interprétation de l'arboretum begins at the ruins of the Château de Sauvages. This 800-metre-long forest trail is an easy circular hike of around one hour, introduces visitors to the history of the area and showcases notable trees.
History
The Maison Pasteur is the house where Louis Pasteur lived while in the region. A plaque was installed at the Maison Pasteur in 1923. Between 1865 and 1869, Louis Pasteur visited Alès several times to work on diseases affecting silkworm farms.
Culture
The Sognes dolmens date from around 2500 BC. The faïsses of the hamlet of Auzas are traditional agricultural terraces bordered by dry-stone walls.
The ruins of the Castellas de Soucanton are a sight of interest in Saint-Jean-du-Pin. The hamlet of Tresmont is typical of the Cévenol settlement style.
