The oldest part of today’s Église Saint-Germain-d’Auxerre in Hermeray is the choir, built in the 12th century. The church was consecrated in 1538.

Culture
La Grande Maison, a former manor farm in Hermeray, dates back to the first half of the 17th century. The estate was arranged around a square courtyard with four corner pavilions and surrounded by moats. La Grande Maison included a mill near the Guesle and a wine press at the site now known as Le Vieux Pressoir.
According to the municipality’s knowledge, the first written mention of Hermeray is found in a document by Pepin the Short dated 768. The surviving historic buildings also include rammed-earth structures and numerous thatched-roof houses.

Hermeray is part of the Haute Vallée de Chevreuse Regional Nature Park and lies in the Guesle Valley. The Guesle River crosses the entire municipality from north to south.
