The connection to art history is also reflected in the life of Berthe Morisot: from 1881 to 1884, she rented a house in Bougival together with her husband Eugène Manet and painted around forty of her works there.
Ivan Tourguéniev’s dacha bears the French “Maisons des Illustres” label. The Villa Viardot was built in Bougival in 1830. The Maison Georges Bizet bears the “Patrimoine d’intérêt régional” label.
Georges Bizet died on 3 June 1875 at the age of 36 in the Maison de Georges Bizet in Bougival.
Landscape and Paths
The “Balade par les Sentes de Bougival” route is a 5- to 10-kilometre circular walk. The footpaths of the Sentes often run steeply uphill along the slopes and are partially bordered by high stone walls.
