Culture and history

The parish church of Notre-Dame was built in the 12th century; its bell tower and flat-ended chancel date from the 13th century. The Église de Notre-Dame de l’Assomption is part of Chatou’s art and history trail. Since 2018, Maison Levanneur has been used by Galerie Bessière.

The Musée d’Art et de Culture Soufis MTO® in Chatou is entirely dedicated to Sufism. It displays a collection of unique objects associated with Sufism, as well as works of contemporary art.

The “Le street art s’invite en Terre Impressionniste!” street-art promenade features 13 works of art.

The Foire de Chatou takes place twice a year and is regarded as a long-standing institution. Visitors can enjoy regional products there, such as ham, foie gras, saucisson, oysters and honey, and put them together in a speciality hamper.

Islands and trails

The Île des Impressionnistes, which stretches for 4.5 kilometres, is home to a renovated museum; it has been open since 1992 and today invites visitors to rediscover this era through exhibitions, works of art, archival documents and immersive experiences.

The Parc des Impressionnistes is a place for family outings and walks for sport, and includes a sports hall, a skate park, a basketball court and a pony club. The Chemin des Impressionnistes in Chatou is designated as a hiking trail.
