The Église Saint-Pierre is a stone church dating from the 12th century; it was listed as a historic monument on 17 February 1950.

History and Townscape
The Tour de Fresnay preserves the remains of a former dovecote. The Château du Breuil dates from the 16th century. Garancières also has a livestock watering trough dating from the 17th century.
The town also appears in a historical register: Garancières is mentioned in the Polyptyque d’Irminon under the name Warenceras; the register was compiled around 805.
Water and Trails
The Mare aux pompiers pond is fed by the Ru de Millemont. The Parcours des Pépinières runs for several metres alongside the Ru des Fontaines, which borders the Moulinet property.
The Parcours Grande Fontaine passes beneath a stone-and-brick railway bridge.
Local Culture
La Barbacane offers a varied programme of performing arts each season, including music, theatre and dance. Garancières is also one of the seven municipalities involved in the SIVU-La-Barbacane cultural project for the performing arts and cinema. The other participating municipalities are Beynes, La-Queue-Lez Yvelines, Marcq, Saulx-Marchais, Villiers le Mahieu and Thoiry.
Garancières’ municipal library, “Le Colibri”, is freely open for reading and regularly hosts events throughout the year, including storytelling sessions.
