Parc Raspail is a three-hectare natural area in the centre of Cachan. It includes rare plant species, a bamboo grove and playgrounds. Numerous events take place in the same park throughout the year, including a nature festival, a harvest festival, open-air cinema and music events.

Jardin Panoramique was created in 1980 on the heights of Cachan. It covers 1.66 hectares and offers an exceptional view over the Bièvre Valley. Its entrances are located on rue de la Concorde and rue de la Solidarité in Cachan.

Promenade des rives de Bièvre is a 300-metre-long walking route in the centre of Cachan. It passes planted paths and water basins representing the underground course of the Bièvre River; information panels provide details about the river's history.

Jardin Le Vallon is located near the former Château des Arcs beneath the Aqueduc Médicis and includes a playground and a protected wooded area.

Culture and History

The Gallo-Roman aqueduct of Cachan was built in the 2nd or 3rd century. One of its pillars is still visible in a wing of the Château des Arcs. The Aqueduc Médicis was built from 1613 onwards on the orders of Marie de Médicis to supply water to the garden and château of the Palais du Luxembourg.

Cachan's town hall was inaugurated in 1935. Several parts are listed as protected heritage features, including the façades, roofs, grounds, council chamber, ceremonial hall, entrance hall and grand staircase.

The Pont aqueduc du Loing et du Lunain is a siphon bridge spanning the Bièvre Valley. The Fontaine couverte is connected to the former Fontaine Saint-Germain, which has been documented since the 9th century; traditionally, its surplus water was made available to the residents of Cachan.

Art, Wine and Events

L'Orangerie has been a municipal venue for contemporary art at Parc Raspail since 2001. Its regular programme includes musical events, group readings, theatre and conferences. It also offers free guided tours, meetings with artists and practical art workshops open to everyone interested.

Montée aux vignes provides pedestrian access to Cachan's vineyards from rue Étienne Dolet and rue Cousté.

Cachan's vineyard comprises 520 vines, which have been organically certified since July 2023; the wine produced there is tasted every year. Today, the vineyard covers a 1,800 m² plot. The vines are used both for winemaking and for various events throughout the town.

The walking trail “Et sous nos pas coule une rivière, la Bièvre” passes the Aqueduc des Eaux de la Vanne and continues to Cachan's vineyards and the Jardin Panoramique.
