The Marais de Cercanceaux comprises marshes, wet meadows, the banks of the Loing and wooded areas. The Marais de Cercanceaux is an Espace naturel sensible, a departmental protected natural area covering more than 29 hectares in Souppes-sur-Loing. The Cercanceaux area also includes an ornithological observatory.

Trails and Experiences

The large Cercanceaux loop is 6 kilometres long, connects the Marais de Cercanceaux with the Sablière de Cercanceaux and passes through marshland, a body of water and wet meadows with horses.

The Balade Branchée between the marsh and the sand quarry tells the history of the sites and their ecological features through the story of the medieval monk Hugues.

Cycling Paths

The cycle path along the Canal du Loing follows a mostly paved towpath. The Scandibérique in southern Seine-et-Marne runs for almost 60 kilometres along the Seine and the Loing to Souppes-sur-Loing.

Culture and History

The Eglise Saint Clair is considered a prime example of Gothic architecture and houses an altarpiece protected as a Monument historique, consisting of eleven carved and polychrome panels depicting scenes from the Passion.

The Cistercian Abbaye Royale Notre Dame de Cercanceaux was founded in 1181. The privately owned Abbaye Royale Notre Dame de Cercanceaux was largely opened to the public in 1996.
