The municipality of Machault is home to the Espace Naturel Sensible de la Vallée Javot. Covering 70 hectares, this area forms a remarkable green network in the heart of the Brie region. Its diverse mosaic landscape consists mainly of mesophilic forests, including oak-ash and beech-oak forests, as well as meadows, fallow land and aquatic habitats.

Nature
The Espace Naturel Sensible de la Vallée Javot is partially accessible to the public via the “Des Vignes aux Vergers en vallée Javot” hiking trail.
The “Des Vignes aux Vergers en Vallée Javot” hiking trail is 12.8 kilometres long, takes around 3 hours and 15 minutes, is marked in green and has a moderate level of difficulty. It has been awarded the FFRandonnée label; its starting village has a rural heritage shaped in particular by winegrowing.
Culture
The Église Saint-Vincent in Machault dates from the 12th century and has been listed as a historic monument since 1945. It preserves tracery windows and 15th-century vaults.
The Église Saint-Vincent can be viewed from the outside every day throughout the year. The church is closed to the public, but can be visited on request during the town hall’s opening hours.
The Lavoir de Villiers is a square building made of millstone and dates from 1910.
The Pressoir de Machault, which belonged to the lords of Chapuis-Villiers, the owners of the Ferme de Villiers and the Château de Chapuis, was converted from a wine press into a cider press in the 1880s. The municipality purchased the building and reconstructed it on the Place de la Mairie in 2000.
Until the end of the 19th century, more than 80 percent of Machault’s population worked in professions related to winegrowing.
Leisure
The Aire de Loisirs du Chemin Vert includes a skate park for scooters, roller skates, skateboards and BMX bikes. Wearing a helmet, elbow, knee and wrist protection is compulsory there, and the minimum age is 8.
The leisure facility also has a multisports area for football, basketball and handball.
The Aire de Loisirs du Chemin Vert also includes a children’s playground for children aged 1 to 16. It is used under the responsibility of adults; smoking is prohibited in the area.
