Culture and History
The Church of Saint-Arnould in Varreddes has been listed as a protected historic monument since 22 August 1949.
Saint Arnoul is considered the first patron saint of the church in Varreddes.
The oldest sculptural representation of Saint Arnoul in Varreddes dates from the 14th century: a limestone statue of a bishop.
The portal of the Church of Saint-Arnould is partly made of Varreddes stone. The jambs and archivolts are made from it, while the tympanum consists of fine Parisian limestone.
During the Battle of the Marne, Varreddes was at the centre of the fighting.
