Nature and paths

A pedestrian promenade created in 1986 connects the Étangs de Corot with the town centre of Ville-d’Avray and passes through Corot’s former estate. The Promenade des Étangs leads in Ville-d’Avray to the Étangs de Ville d’Avray, which are also known as the Étangs de Corot.

The Vieil étang was created as a fishpond by the local lords at the end of the Middle Ages. The Étangs de Corot site has been protected since 21 September 1936.

The Forêt domaniale de Fausses-Reposes is crossed by the Ceinture Verte Ouest de l’Île-de-France hiking trail; this trail connects the loops of the Seine with Boulogne-Billancourt and Bougival. Horseback riding and hiking are possible in the Forêt domaniale de Fausses-Reposes.

History

The Maison Corot dates from the late 18th century. The Maison Corot and its garden are classified as historic monuments. Both are privately owned and cannot be visited.

Culture

The Château de Ville-d’Avray is a neoclassical building constructed in 1776. The walls of the transept of the parish church of Saint-Nicolas, Saint-Marc are decorated with frescoes by Corot.
