Located right in the middle of the village, the Parc animalier de Janvry is a six-hectare green enclave home to more than one hundred animals. The park is open to the public free of charge every day year-round from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. It also includes a children's playground and picnic tables.
Those choosing Janvry as a travel destination may wish to rent a holiday apartment.
Nature
Janvry also reveals its rural character outside the animal park: More than 200 fruit trees have gradually been planted throughout the municipality.
Culture and History
The Church of Notre-Dame-du-Mont-Carmel was rebuilt in 1639 and has a wooden altarpiece from the 17th century. Inside, there is also the tombstone of Jehan de Baillon, who died in 1567. The Stations of the Cross, a gift from Napoleon III, and the painting of the Virgin and Child are listed in the supplementary inventory of cultural heritage.
Events
The Fête de la Pomme takes place in September. The schoolchildren pick apples while the village community presses them. The apple juice produced is sold from door to door in the village during the Fête de la Pomme.
Janvry Plage offers a sandy area with 190 tonnes of sand, palm trees and coconut palms, sun loungers and tables, table tennis tables, a bar, gentle music, a large inflatable swimming pool and barbecues every two weeks. In 2026, the event will open daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. for more than two months starting on 27 June; swimming ends at 6:30 p.m.
