Dourdan Castle was completed around 1222 by Philippe Auguste. It is one of the few 13th-century buildings in Île-de-France to have preserved most of its original structures.
The Musée du Château de Dourdan is recognized as a “Musée de France” and houses archaeological, art and historical collections relating to Dourdan’s cultural heritage. The museum offers guided tours with commentary, including tours on Sundays at 3 p.m., themed group tours, and special activities for school groups by reservation.
The restoration of the Church of Saint-Germain-l’Auxerrois has given it a unified interior and made it an example of 19th-century Gothic Revival art. Dourdan’s municipal heritage also includes views of the old town, streets reflecting its past, and distinctive historic houses.
The former castle guard-post area of Dourdan Castle now offers panoramic views over the town and its surroundings.

The “Balade branchée des mares” is a signposted discovery trail with an app that allows visitors to explore the wetlands in Dourdan Forest. It offers a 2.5-kilometre circular route for families lasting 1 hour, as well as a 5-kilometre route lasting 1 hour and 30 minutes for more experienced visitors.
Dourdan Forest contains 90 ponds that are considered natural areas of high ecological importance.
RER line C serves the stations of Dourdan-la-Forêt, Dourdan, Sermaise and Saint-Chéron.
