The history of Igny includes the Église Saint-Pierre-d'Igny. It has been listed as a historic monument since 17 February 1950. The church was damaged during the Hundred Years' War and restored in the 15th century by the lords of Puys.

The Église Saint-Michel du Pileu dates from 1929 and is considered the most emblematic building in the Pileu district. The Rigole de Favreuse also forms part of the historical context: it is part of a hydraulic network proposed in the 17th century for collecting water and supplying the fountains of the Palace of Versailles.

Igny has hosted and organised the BD’Essonne festival since 1998. Numerous authors present their works and sign copies at the festival. The festival weekend includes numerous events and culminates in a competition that discovers young comic-book talent.
The Médiathèque Pierre Seghers has a comic-book and manga library with more than 5,000 comics and manga for all age groups.
