Nature and Landscape

The sand quarry in the Bois de Lunézy between Villejust and Saulx-les-Chartreux has been protected by the Réserve des Sites Géologiques de l’Essonne since 1996. As part of the ecological restoration of the Rouillon, 235 metres of the river were uncovered again in Villejust; a new footpath for walkers was also created.

The Parc des Deux Lacs is a park covering around ten hectares, created in the late 1980s in the southern part of the Courtabœuf business park. The Parc des Deux Lacs contains lakes above ground. A former gravel pit has become overgrown with vegetation and forms a landscape area to be preserved.

History and Culture

The existence of a chapel or church in Villejust is documented as early as before the 12th century. The church of Villejust was consecrated on 13 May 1356; on that occasion, its four altars were blessed by Charles, Bishop of Megara.
