La Dame du Lac was commissioned in 1975 as France’s first artificial climbing structure. The sculpture was awarded the “Patrimoine d’intérêt régional (PIR)” label in September 2019. It has ten climbing routes and almost 300 climbing holds, which were installed by Guido Magnone. However, climbing has not been permitted there for several years because it no longer meets safety standards.

Culture
Protected landmarks in the area include Bornes à fleur de lys nos. 19 and 20 in Courcouronnes. They are protected as historic monuments and were listed under a decree dated 22 March 1934. The Église Notre-Dame-de-la-Nativité was founded towards the end of the 12th century and remains in its original location in the centre of Courcouronnes’s first cemetery. Work was carried out on the small church and its cemetery to enhance both sites.
The Centre des Musiques Didier Lockwood moved to the Ferme du Bois Briard in Évry-Courcouronnes in September 2023. It is a school for jazz and improvised music. Also located at the Ferme du Bois Briard, the Salle culturelle Decauville hosts theatre performances, concerts and receptions.
Nature
Parc du Lac in the Courcouronnes-Centre district was expanded by an area of 6 hectares, added to the existing 11 hectares. The extension includes cycle paths and secure footpaths, a playground, rest areas with picnic tables, and a boules court. A wetland in the extension of Parc du Lac serves as a refuge for biodiversity, a retention basin during heavy rainfall, and a filter for run-off rainwater. Parc du Lac is an area for walks and also provides a retreat for birds.
At Parc du Rondeau, the lake is overlooked by dune-like mounds that are popular with paragliders and kite flyers.
