The Église Saint-Symphorien de Chevannes is entirely Gothic and lies on the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela. The church contains a large painting, probably dating from the 17th century, depicting the act that led to the martyrdom of Saint Symphorian.

Nature and buildings

Since 2011, Chevannes has been part of the Parc Naturel Régional du Gâtinais.

The Aqueduc de la Vanne passes through Chevannes. In the municipality, it passes underneath the departmental roads D153 and D74 via siphons. The Aqueduc du Loing also runs through Chevannes and is marked by cylindrical inspection shafts.

Transport links and golf

The departmental roads D74 and D153 run from Chevannes to Ballancourt-sur-Essonne and Mennecy. Both towns have stations on the RER D line.

UGOLF Mennecy-Chevannes offers group golf lessons. Golf de Mennecy-Chevannes has an 18-hole course.

History

The local association “Chevannes, Patrimoine et Environnement” helped ensure that the dovecote of the Ferme des Seigneurs was restored.
