Nature

The Côte aux Bourgeois biotope protection area, site no. 30, covers 22.81 hectares and includes the municipalities of Clairvaux-les-Lacs, La Frasnée and Hautecour. The cliffs of the Côte aux Bourgeois in Hautecour and La Frasnée are covered by a prefectural order protecting the biotope. Climbing, including rappelling, canyoning and caving, is prohibited on these cliffs during the breeding season from 15 February to 1 July.

Trails

The Les grands lacs – Petite Boucle route passes through Hautecour. The Circuit des crêtes loop is a very easy 8.3 km circuit with an estimated duration of one hour. It follows the Chemin des Mouraines to Hautecour and then continues through the village streets; Hautecour is the main village crossed by the loop. The Circuit des crêtes offers numerous viewpoints over the lakes of Clairvaux and the Creux de la Frasnée.

De la Baume à la Scie – 10B is an easy 19 km trail with an estimated duration of two and a half hours. A loop of De la Baume à la Scie – 10B passes through Hautecour to viewpoints overlooking the Creux de la Frasnée. The trail reaches Hautecour via the Chemin des Mouraines. De la Baume à la Scie – 10B also reaches the Belvédère de la Scie after crossing the source of the Raillette, and passes by the Nitrière cave.

Water

In the area around Hautecour, the Grand Lac offers canoeing, stand-up paddleboarding, pedal boating and swimming.

Culture

La rue Lepuic is accessible to people with reduced mobility; French, English and Spanish are spoken there. In Hautecour, La rue Lepuic is designated as a cultural activity venue with entertainment.

Getting There

Access to the Circuit des crêtes is from Lons-le-Saunier via the D678 toward Pont-de-Poitte and Clairvaux-les-Lacs; parking is available at the Parking de l'Eglise in Clairvaux-les-Lacs.
