Culture
The Chapelle de la Roche near the cemetery was once an oratory belonging to the local lords and is located along the path known as the Chemin de la Roche in the direction of Purgerot. The present building of the Chapelle de la Roche was erected around 1860 beside the older building, which was at risk of collapse.
The present Église Saint-Didier was built between 1780 and 1782. The traditional building stock of Chargey-lès-Port also includes numerous houses above stone cellars, which were formerly covered with stone slabs known as laves.
The village’s cultural heritage includes the cabanes de coucous, dry-stone shelters traditionally used by winegrowers and known elsewhere in Franche-Comté as cabordes. A Renaissance house with a tower in the Impasse du Cornot is also part of the rural heritage of Chargey-lès-Port.
The windmill of Chargey, mentioned in 1385, is considered the oldest windmill known to date in the Haute-Saône département; today, only a place name indicates its existence. The blessed cherry tree of Chargey-lès-Port was a regular stop during Rogation processions, at which the fruits of the earth were blessed.
