Saint-Sauveur: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The Breuchin Valley in Saint-Sauveur includes wetlands in the northern part of the valley and woodland areas in the south. The area also includes the Type I ZNIEFF “Massifs forestiers des Communaux et du Vay de Brest”. Part of the “Vallée de la Lanterne” Natura 2000 site is also located in Saint-Sauveur. The Breuchin is one of the two named surface water bodies in Saint-Sauveur.

Culture

The former Baudouin, Risler et Cie. cotton spinning mill, later Koechlin et Cie., reflects the area’s industrial history. It was built between 1880 and 1883 and originally operated 20,000 steam-powered spindles. Today, it is the Fonderie de Saint-Sauveur and houses municipal workshops. The Fonderie d'art in Saint-Sauveur maintains craftsmanship in contemporary and historical design.

The Église de Saint-Sauveur was rebuilt in the 19th century on the site of a 13th-century church. It houses an octagonal baptismal font made of Vosges sandstone, which is classified as a Monument historique and decorated with eight biblical scenes and figures. The church also contains the painting “Nativité de la Vierge” in the baptistery. It dates from the 18th century and is classified as a protected historic object; it was listed on 29 June 1972.

The Espace Maurice Happe at BA 116 in Saint-Sauveur is a cultural heritage space dedicated to the history of Air Base 116. Among other things, the museum collection includes F84, Mirage IIIE, Mirage IV and Mirage 2000N aircraft or aviation artefacts.

The Grand-Pont over the Breuchin also bears witness to several eras: it was rebuilt in 1682 by civil engineer Charles Barbier, destroyed in 1944 and completely rebuilt at the end of the war.

Activities

Saint-Sauveur is the starting and finishing point of a 23 km mountain-biking circuit. A fitness trail runs through the woods on the outskirts of Saint-Sauveur. There is a small children’s playground next to the fitness trail car park.

Visitor information

Visits to the Fonderie de Saint-Sauveur are possible only for groups by prior request or during temporary exhibitions. Registration is required at least seven days before the visit for guided tours of the Espace Maurice Happe.

Market and local connections

A weekly market takes place every Sunday in the town centre of Saint-Sauveur from 16 August 2026 to 7 February 2027. On Sundays, it offers fruit, vegetables and local products.

The Fontaine de Saint-Vaudre is connected to the Sainte-Ursulle spring; its water was said to be able to cure persistent fever.
