The Temple de Voujeaucourt is listed as a historic monument; the protection covers the entire building. Its simple oval shape is considered unique in the Pays de Montbéliard and is generally described as rather rare. Inside, an altar, a pulpit and a choir screen from the 19th century have been preserved.

Culture

The Catholic Church of Saint-Michel was consecrated in 1867 and built on the site of a medieval sanctuary. It houses Les pèlerins d’Emmaüs, a painting created in 1946 by Pierre Jouffroy, a native of the town. It also contains a life-size wooden Christ on the cross, which tradition says came from Belchamp Abbey and dates from the late 16th century.

The road bridge over the Doubs in the centre is also part of Voujeaucourt’s history. For a long time, it was the only crossing over the Doubs between Franche-Comté and the Pays de Montbéliard. It was partially destroyed six times during the wars, but its arches have been well preserved. At 82 Grande rue, there is also a covered fountain with a washhouse.

Nature

The Parc de la promenade du Doubs is a tree-filled park on the banks of the Doubs, with children’s play areas and a fitness area. By the Doubs, it has a picnic table and also a cycling track for children. On a bike ride along the EuroVelo 6, the park is suitable as a place to stop for a picnic or a short break.

The Sentier ludique de la Côte Roux is a 750-metre-long adventure trail open to everyone, between Voujeaucourt and Mandeure. Themed stations, games and animal sculptures introduce visitors to the trees and special features of the small woodland area.

Getting Around

The former towpath bridge was demolished in 2012 and replaced by a metal footbridge carrying the Nantes–Budapest EuroVéloroute.

Geographical Setting

Voujeaucourt is listed as a stop on the EuroVelo 6 stage between Montbéliard and L’Isle-sur-le-Doubs. TER trains run along the route between Belfort, Montbéliard and Besançon.
