Culture and History
The Château de Rennes-sur-Loue was built essentially during the first half of the 18th century.
The protected Château de Rennes-sur-Loue includes the entire main building, including the interior fixtures permanently attached to it, the façades and roofs of the other buildings, the terrace and adjoining gardens, the retaining walls of the canal and the bridge crossing it, as well as the enclosing walls and railings.
The Château de Rennes-sur-Loue is privately owned and not open to the public; however, the château and park can be seen from the outside.
The historic Saumoduc de Salins-les-Bains–Arc-et-Senans was intended to convey salt brine from Salins-les-Bains to Arc-et-Senans; in 1774, the construction of a new saltworks at Arc-et-Senans was decided.
The pipeline of the historic Saumoduc de Salins-les-Bains–Arc-et-Senans consisted of two rows of fir-wood pipes that conveyed the brine separately from the large and small saltworks.
A protected section of the Saumoduc de Salins-les-Bains–Arc-et-Senans runs through Rennes-sur-Loue beneath the Route de Lyon, or within the route of the RN 83, near the bridge over the Furieuse at the border with Grange-de-Vaivre; it was registered by decree on 29 December 2009.
