The Moulin de Fourbanne preserves historic milling technology, including a roller mill by Goulut-Borne, a grain cleaner by Charlas-Brocas from Lyon, a grading machine and leather bucket elevators; the Douge turbine and the transmission components are still operational. The Moulin de Fourbanne is located approximately ten metres from a natural cavity where a spring from an underground river of the municipalities of Verne and Luxiol emerges.

At the eastern edge of Fourbanne, the Saut de Gamache viewpoint is located on the D683 towards Baume-les-Dames. It overlooks the Doubs Valley and offers a view of Baume-les-Dames between the hills, as well as of the village of Esnans below. The name recalls the 1779 fall of the carriage belonging to the Spanish-born Marquis and Marquise Ronot de Gamache.

Nature

The Grotte de Fourbanne is home to various protected bat colonies and is regularly visited by amateur cavers. It is mentioned in connection with hiking on Route Luxiol No. 67.

Geographical Location

Fourbanne can be reached via the D683 and then, between Séchin and Baume-les-Dames, via the D261.

The Nantes–Budapest cycle route runs along the Doubs near Fourbanne and is used there by walkers, anglers and, increasingly, cycle tourists.

Things to Do

The official Luxiol No. 67 gravel route runs through Fourbanne. It leads from Place Jouffroy d’Abbans along the EuroVelo route beside the Doubs, with its characteristic heritage of locks, to the Fourbanne lock. The “Balade paisible le long du Doubs” cycle route also passes through Fourbanne.
