Les Fourgs: Holiday apartments and houses

Landscape

Culture and history

The Chapelle du Touriau was inaugurated in 1925 after the residents of Les Fourgs vowed to build a chapel if the village were spared the ravages of war. It has recognised historical and artistic value, particularly because of its coloured diamond-patterned roof shingles and its cross.

The Sentier des Bornes explains the historic border between Les Fourgs and Sainte-Croix using information panels. The Oratoire de Notre-Dame des Buclés is located along a former processional route connecting the village of Les Fourgs with the Chapelle de Montpetot. A local history of cross-border smuggling involving goods such as watches, lace, horses and tobacco is also documented for Les Fourgs.

In the wider surroundings of Les Fourgs, an easy circular route leads along the Route de la Corne to the Chapelle Saint-Claude in Chapelle Mijoux, which was built in 1705.

Activities

Les Fourgs is suitable for walks and hikes on foot, as well as mountain biking. The Stade VTT FFC de la Coupe offers mountain bike circuits with green, blue and red difficulty levels and includes green, blue and red pump tracks.

Disc golf, Explor Games and Cani-Rando are offered as leisure activities in Les Fourgs.

Winter

The Les Fourgs–L’Herba Nordic area lists Le Mont de l’Herba as a 9.6 km cross-country ski trail. The Les Fourgs–L’Herba snowshoeing area includes seven snowshoe trails accessible to hikers, totalling 41 km.

The Grande Traversée du Jura cross-country ski route passes through Les Fourgs; the section from Les Verrières to Les Fourgs is 13 km long. At the Les Rangs site, there is a 50 m-long conveyor belt, a snowmaking system and a toboggan run.
