Riventosa is situated on a rocky ridge. At the A Curnachjola viewpoint, there is an orientation panel, from where visitors can enjoy views across the Tavignanu valley. The Boziu Massif and the mountain ranges of Cardu and Latiniccia can also be seen. The landscape around Riventosa features numerous ravines that shape the irregular relief of the village area.

Culture and History

The Sentier du Patrimoine I Trè Paesi passes through Riventosa, is 3.5 kilometres long, and connects the three historic municipalities of Casanova, Poggio di Venaco, and Riventosa. The trail provides insights into the everyday lives of their residents and their rich cultural heritage; in Riventosa, it also includes a village bread oven.

U mulinu di Masgiolu is more than 200 years old and was formerly used to grind wheat, corn, and chestnuts. The mill was located by the river on the path connecting Casanova and Riventosa and was also a meeting place for the washerwomen. Riventosa once had blacksmiths, carpenters, shoemakers, and other craftsmen. Most of the recorded houses are built of local stone and are usually covered with plaster.

The Church of Saint Anthony in Riventosa was built between 1720 and 1723, and its bell tower was added in 1889. The construction workers and artists responsible for the building work came directly from Italy.

Local Produce

Until the First World War, agriculture was significant in Riventosa and was based primarily on the cultivation of grapevines, olives, chestnuts, and wheat. The Mercatu Muntagnolu is aimed at residents and visitors and showcases Corsican agricultural and pastoral-craft products. Visitors can find cheese, cured meats, and honey there, along with other agricultural and artisanal products. The municipality of Riventosa established the Mercatu Muntagnolu as a permanent event together with the village associations.
