At the entrance to the village lies Pianellu’s centuries-old chestnut grove. It covers 60 hectares and is home to chestnut trees up to 700 years old, with trunk circumferences reaching 13 metres.

Nature
The entrance to the chestnut grove is not signposted. It lies before the village in the direction of Zalana; bringing an IGN map is recommended. The Sentier de Pianellu / Villages also passes through the centuries-old chestnut grove.
Hiking and Trails
The Sentier de Pianellu / Montagne is a hiking trail classified as a PR. It follows the tracks of shepherds and conveys local traditions and craftsmanship.
The stage from I Penti to Pianellu can be divided into two sections: I Penti–Valle d’Alesani in 4 hours and Valle d’Alesani–Pianellu in 4 hours and 30 minutes.
On the Matra-Pianellu trail, visitors can experience the surrounding fauna and flora. The Bravone waterfall is an inviting place to relax in Pianellu.
Culture
In the hamlet of Ostricacce stands the Chapelle San Petru de Pianellu, a pre-Romanesque chapel that was Pianellu’s parish church until 1696. As a memorial site, it commemorates the donation of the Mare e Stagnu grounds near Aleria to the municipality of Pianellu in 1703.
On the eve of 29 June, candles are lit in the Chapelle San Petru de Pianellu; this commemoration is called I Sanghuvanni.
During the San-Vincentu celebration in Pianellu, a procession leads from Sainte Cécile Church to Saint Vincent Chapel on 20 August. A solemn mass then takes place.
Cuisine and Festivals
At the Festa di A Muntagnera in U Pianellu, workshops were offered on tasting Corsican cheeses and pairing cheese with wine. The history of transhumance in Pianellu was also presented at the same Festa di A Muntagnera.
Migliacci were prepared for this festival and baked in a wood-fired oven.
