Ersa: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Hiking

The Sentier des Douaniers is a 19-kilometre coastal hiking trail between Macinaggio and Centuri through protected natural areas. It is divided into the sections Macinaggio–Barcaggio, taking approximately 3 to 3.5 hours, Barcaggio–Tollare, taking 45 minutes, and Tollare–Centuri, taking 4 hours. The themed walking route “Les villages de la forêt” includes a 1.7-kilometre section for which approximately 50 minutes is indicated.

Culture

The Église Saint-André de Granaggiolo and its bell tower feature Baroque architecture, a square bell tower and four side chapels. Santa Maria Assunta is Ersa’s current parish church. The Tour de Tollare is a Genoese tower acquired by the municipality and recently restored.

Nature

The Moulin Mattei is located in the municipality of Ersa. It offers a panorama stretching from the Corsican and Italian coasts to the Tuscan Archipelago, including views of Centuri and Giraglia. The platform of the Moulin Mattei can be reached from the car park via a walk of approximately 10 minutes and is situated at an altitude of 365 metres. The Chapelle Sant Antuninu stands on Monte Sant’Antone and offers a 360-degree panorama over Ersa.

History

Louis Napoléon Mattei and François Mattei, who originated from Ersa, created and operated the Cap Corse Mattei aperitif. Former quarries where green marble known as Verde Stella was extracted can be seen in Ersa. The Église Saint-André de Granaggiolo and its bell tower in Ersa are listed as a Monument historique; the church is mentioned as early as the 17th century.
