Culture

San Giovanni Battista is a former pievane church; the present building was erected in the first quarter of the 12th century. The church in Carbini is a Pisan Romanesque church with a single-nave floor plan and a detached campanile.

Next to the Church of San Giovanni Battista are the remains of the small Romanesque Church of San Quilico. Today, only traces on the ground remain, recalling Carbini’s former religious significance.

The Giovannali interpretation trail connects the Church of Saint-Jean-Baptiste with the remains of the Church of San Quilico, combining cultural heritage, landscape and memory. On the way to the village of Pantano, you will also find the site of Santa Lucia; a small Romanesque chapel may once have stood there.

The Giovannali interpretation trail passes over a rocky promontory marked by a cross, offering views of Carbini and the Aiguilles de Bavella.

Carbini is a stopping point on the Mare a Mare Sud route from the direction of Porto-Vecchio. Depending on the route variant, the Tassileddi walk is indicated as taking 1 to 1.5 hours.

Culinary specialities

Carbini has a long-standing family tradition of charcuterie. It is based on keeping pigs in the wild and traditional production methods.
