Culture and History

The Tour de Campomoro and its fortified enclosure were protected as a historic monument on 4 August 1992. Inside is the permanent “Barbaresques” exhibition. It covers the history of the Genoese towers in Corsica, the invasions by the Barbary corsairs, the looting of Sartène and the construction of the Tour de Campomoro.

Landscape and Nature

The protected Campumoru-Senetosa nature reserve lies south of Propriano in Corse-du-Sud. It covers 2,300 hectares and 24 kilometres of coastline from Pointe de Campumoru to Anse de Tivedda. Granite, green coastal meadows and extensive maquis shrubland shape the area; the maquis is dominated by Phoenician juniper.

Hikes

The hike between Belvédère and Campomoro follows an old traditional path. It connects the hamlet on the hill with the coastal settlement and passes through holm oaks, tall maquis shrubland and rocky boulder fields. The hike takes 1 to 1¼ hours and can be started in Belvédère or Campomoro.

The Canuseddu circular hike follows a stream and passes old terraces on its way to a viewpoint overlooking the coastal settlement of Campomoro. The I Pozzi circular hike starts in Bassa Torra and takes around 1 hour and 30 minutes. Its route passes through coastal meadows and stands of myrtle and juniper, as well as a spring and a historic threshing floor for wheat. Coastal Path and Access Routes

The Campomoro-Senetosa coastal path crosses the coastal meadows of I Pozzi and passes the rocky peaks of Scoddi Longhi and Scalonu. The Campumoru-Senetosa nature reserve can be reached by sea and via two land access routes: in the north via Pointe de Campumoru and in the south via the coastal path from the port of Tizzà.

Refuge de Senetosa

Hikers, horse riders and kayakers can stay at the Refuge de Senetosa for a maximum of one or two nights. The Refuge de Senetosa is located in the protected Campomoro-Senetosa nature reserve and serves as a resting place for hikers on the approximately 60 kilometres of established paths between Campomoro in the north and Tizzano in the south.
