Culture and History

The Maison de la Polyculture is housed in a restored former winegrower's longère. It displays agricultural tools from the 19th and 20th centuries that illustrate agricultural work in Ormes and in the Beauce Loirétaine.

Admission to the Maison de la Polyculture is free when places are available.

Once a month, the Maison de la Polyculture organises the “Ateliers du mercredi”, during which groups of ten children discover a topic for one hour in a playful and often creative way.

The Church of Notre-Dame de la Nativité in Ormes was consecrated on 19 October 1871. The church houses an 18th-century polychrome wooden depiction of the Virgin and Child.

The Maison de la Polyculture also features two permanent exhibitions on the cultivation and processing of wheat and grapevines.

Nature

When arriving from the north or west, you cross the wheat, maize and rapeseed fields of the Beauce plain on the way to Ormes.

The Domaine de la Canaudière is a 200-hectare woodland area open to the public. The publicly accessible grounds offer walks, pram-friendly paths and cycling.

The Domaine de la Canaudière has an educational trail for observing wildlife and an arboretum with 200 species from around the world.

Experiences
