Malesherbes: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The Atelier-Musée de l’Imprimerie displays almost 150 printing presses. It is dedicated to the history of book printing and printed works from Gutenberg to the digital revolution. Since 2021, the museum has hosted the Prix Malesherbes “Le Libraire du Roi” every year during the European Heritage Days. It also offers eight workshops with practical introductions.

Culture and history

The Church of Saint-Martin de Malesherbes was rebuilt after the Hundred Years’ War and dedicated to Saint Martin in 1540. It houses a depiction of the Entombment of Christ consisting of eight life-size figures, commissioned from Adrien Wincart in 1495. The church also contains the cenotaph for Monsieur de Malesherbes, a white marble bust created by Dumont, which Louis XVIII presented to the inhabitants of Malesherbes in 1822.

The Château de Malesherbes is situated in a wooded park covering approximately 100 hectares. Its main building was constructed by Pierre Vigné de Vigny between 1718 and 1724.

Nature

The Marais du Château de Malesherbes is a municipal wetland of approximately 4.5 hectares on the left bank of the Essonne.

Activities

The Doudemont Valley, a green pedestrian route, has an outdoor fitness trail.

The Doudemont Valley also has a children’s playground.

The GR32 long-distance hiking trail follows the Essonne River from its source to Malesherbes.

Malesherbes is directly connected to Paris by RER line D. REMI buses run to Malesherbes from Montargis and Pithiviers.
