In Lorris, the history of the organ dates back to 1501: the organ in Lorris is considered France’s oldest organ. The Église Notre-Dame de Lorris also combines several historical periods. It is a Romanesque church from the 12th and 13th centuries and has an organ loft from the 16th century.

Culture
Individual visits to the Église Notre-Dame are possible at any time on a self-guided basis; individual guided tours are available on request. The Musée de la Résistance et de la Déportation includes a memorial site and gardens that were created in 1987 and 1988. The Musée départemental de la Résistance et de la Déportation traces the history of the Loiret département during the war through contemporary documents, eyewitness accounts, objects and weapons.
At the Carrefour de la Résistance, an audio immersion experience is available via the free application “Du carrefour d’Orléans au Carrefour de la Résistance”. The audio equipment required for this can be borrowed from the Office de Tourisme de Lorris.
The Halle de Lorris has a remarkable oak framework, dates back to the Middle Ages and remains a central landmark of the town. The medieval ruins of the Château de Lorris also form part of the town’s historic appearance. They were moved to the public garden of the town hall and classified as a monument historique by decree of 11 December 1908.
Nature
The Circuit des fontaines is a 27.7 km route near Lorris classified as moderately difficult. It can be used on foot, by VTC and by mountain bike. The Circuit des fontaines passes through the Forêt d’Orléans and by numerous fountains considered relics of the forest’s royal past.
Clockmaking History
The Musée Horloger Georges Lemoine offers free audio guides that provide further information and make several pendulum clocks and watches audible. The museum presents exhibits from 200 years of clockmaking history through various pendulum clocks and watches. These include a cuckoo clock from the Black Forest, a clock formerly installed in the bell tower of Lorris, Parisian clocks from the time of Napoleon III, mantel clocks, large Comtoise clocks, and numerous alarm clocks and wristwatches.

A music festival takes place in Lorris every year at the beginning of July.
