Culture and History

Most of the west façade of the 10th-century Église Saint-Saturnin has been preserved. The nave was rebuilt in the 12th century. Since 11 January 1951, the church has been protected as a historic monument.

The Barrage des Mazelles is located on the Cher within the municipality of Pouillé. It was built in 1839 and is considered an important milestone in the heritage of hydraulic engineering, as well as a significant witness to the Industrial Age.

In Pouillé, visitors can see an excavated fanum temple of Tasciaca; the Gallo-Roman site of Tasciaca can also be visited.

Hiking and Landscape

The “Boucle du côteau” is a 7.4-kilometre hiking trail with a stated duration of 2 hours and 40 minutes. It begins at the municipal pond at 1 Rue du Lavoir in Pouillé and runs between vineyards and forests.

About halfway along the route, a Loge de vignes can be seen. The small shelter in the vineyard was used to store equipment and for protection during a break.

The Domaine de la Rochette offers tours of the vineyard and wine cellar. A free wine tasting is also offered. The Domaine de la Rochette includes cellars carved into tuffeau stone.
