The Cher borders Monthou-sur-Cher to the south for a length of more than three kilometres. A fitness trail runs alongside the Bavet at the municipal body of water in Monthou-sur-Cher.

Nature
In the past, the Cher at Monthou-sur-Cher was used for fishing and navigation. Fishing in the municipal pond requires an inter-federation card or one of seven other cards issued by the French Anglers’ Federation.
Following the Bavet downstream, you can reach the mills of the Vallée des Meuniers.
Culture
The Église Sainte-Julitte Saint-Cyr has been protected as a historic monument by a decree dated 6 January 1926. Above the bell tower, transept and choir bay, it has an oak supporting structure dating from the 13th century.
The Château du Gué-Péan is partially classified as a historic monument; its façades, roofs and access bridge were protected by a decree dated 10 October 1980. From the centre of Monthou-sur-Cher, the Château du Gué-Péan can be reached by car or bicycle.
An admission ticket for the Château du Gué-Péan includes free access to the chapel and the tower with its imperial-style roof cupola, as well as a guided tour of the library and the château’s salons.
The Neolithic polishing stones at La Crémaillère still have very well-preserved polished surfaces. At the Bizard site near the Château du Gué-Péan, there are ruins and remains of a chapel.
Activities
The Ecuries du Gué-Péan welcome riders aged three and over, from beginner to advanced level. They offer riding lessons, courses and show jumping.
The “gué péan - thenay par la foret de choussy” route is a 28-kilometre, five-hour circular horse-riding route starting in Monthou-sur-Cher.
Wine
Domaine Sauvète offers guided insights into winegrowing, a treasure hunt and vineyard excursions by electric scooter or gyropod. Domaine Desloges offers a guided tour of the wine cellar with explanations of its operations and a wine tasting.
