Nature
In Veigné, the Parc de la Championnière is open to the public free of charge from mid-June to mid-September. The nature trail leads through the forest and uses information panels to provide insights into the fauna and flora of the undergrowth. The park is also home to a chestnut tree that has been designated an "Arbre remarquable de France" since 2007.
The Arboretum de la Martinière is a four-hectare park, designated a "Jardin Remarquable", located in a former quarry with two ponds. It is home to around one hundred species of bamboo.
When travelling to Veigné, the desire to rent a holiday apartment may be the main consideration.
Culture
The bell tower of the Église Saint Maixent dates from around 1140 to 1160 and has been classified as a Monument historique since 1961. The Grand Moulin still houses a waterwheel system built in 1926 and weighing 17 tonnes. The historic milling mechanism is also still visible today.
Local life
Veigné's market takes place every Friday morning on the Place du Maréchal Leclerc. It offers fruit and vegetables from local and regional producers, as well as cheese, poultry, cold meats, seafood and flowers.
Getting around
The 12-kilometre circular walking trail Les Jonchères around Veigné allows visitors to discover the architectural and landscape features of Veigné distributed along the route.
For pilgrims setting out from Tours towards Santiago de Compostela, Veigné provides the first official pilgrims' hostel, or Jacquaire stop, in the Indre-et-Loire département. The GR655, the pilgrimage route towards Santiago de Compostela on the Via de Tours, is signposted in Veigné.
