Sorigny: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Sorigny is home to Family Park, a family amusement park with more than 40 attractions spread across six wooded hectares. For some people planning a trip to Sorigny, renting a holiday apartment is part of the plan.

Culture

The present-day Church of Saint-Pierre-aux-Liens was built in 1866 and retains the Romanesque base of its bell tower. In the adjoining chapel, traces of an 11th-century fresco depicting the Crucifixion can be seen.

The Bollée wind turbine in Sorigny was restored and reinstalled at the southern entrance to the town. It can be visited free of charge on the first Saturday of every month from 10 a.m. to 12 noon as part of a guided tour organised by Sorigny Patrimoine.

Routes

The Way of St James on the Tours route, also known as GR655, crosses Sorigny. The L’Enfer route follows the Way of St James southwards to the southern part of the municipality of Sorigny.

The Sorigny pilgrims’ hostel provides pilgrims travelling to Compostela with overnight accommodation. It is open from 1 April to 31 October and is reserved exclusively for these pilgrims; a maximum of six pilgrims can stay there overnight.

La Cyclo Bohème is a fully signposted, 300 km-long cycle route that passes through Touraine, Berry and the first foothills of the Creuse, and is promoted from Sorigny as a cycling experience.

Landscape

Sorigny has a varied natural landscape comprising forests, meadows, agricultural land and several watercourses, including the Fouzon. The Creusot ponds are man-made ponds and serve as a water reserve for irrigating the orchards planted on the plateau.

In Thais, Sorigny, a farm has been preserved whose dovecote marks the entrance to the property. The Le Bourdin stream forms the boundary between the municipalities of Sorigny and Saint-Branchs for approximately 3 km, flowing from south to north.
