Nature

The protected Bardeaux de l’Indre nature area is crossed by a more than 5 km-long cycle path that invites you to take a bike ride along the Indre. Several information panels there provide details about the area’s natural wealth and cultural heritage.

Culture

The port of Bréhémont bears witness to significant trading activities in the 18th and 19th centuries, which developed through hemp cultivation and fishing. It has two opposing ramps; opposite the quay, house façades and lintels feature sculptures made of tuffeau stone.

At the quay in Bréhémont, you can see a covered toue, considered to be the last fishing boat used for salmon and shad fishing.

The Église Sainte-Marie-Madeleine was built in 1843 and has a west-facing choir. It also has five stained-glass windows created in 1846 by the glass artists Galimard and Laurent.

Local life

La Guimbarge is a floating guinguette on a barge terrace on the Loire. The food is ordered and paid for at the La Cabane à Matelot restaurant and then eaten on the barge terrace on the Loire. Boat trips organised by Romain are offered in connection with La Cabane à Matelot; cooking classes led by Ambroise are also available.
