Culture and History
The Château de Cypierre features construction phases from the 14th, 15th, 16th and 18th centuries. On 23 December 1985, it was partially protected as a historic monument.
The partially protected ensemble of the Château de Cypierre includes the keep, the main building from the 18th century, the 16th-century tower, a 19th-century wing, the east staircase, the east tower in the outbuildings, and a 19th-century chapel.
The site of Lock 22 on the Loire-Ocean slope, also known as Volesvres Lock, currently comprises a Gauthey-type lock keeper’s house on the left bank, a control station in a building with a gabled roof based on the 1950s model, and an aqueduct.
The site of Lock 21 on the Ocean slope, also known as Les Halliers, is a historic canal facility on the Canal du Centre. It comprises a mechanised lock chamber, a bridge over the lock, a garden and several buildings arranged around a traditional lock keeper’s house.
The church of Volesvres is dedicated to Saint John the Baptist.

Volesvres is crossed by the Bourbince and the Canal du Centre.
