Davayé was first mentioned by name in a document dating from 938. The Durandis washhouse served primarily as a watering place.
The Chaponière washhouse was built in 1877 and later modified. The Varanjoux washhouse was built in 1871. The Chevigne washhouse has preserved all its original elements.
The bell tower of Davayé church was built in the 12th century and heightened several centuries later.
