Fauverney: Apartments and Holiday Homes

The 41-hectare Parc de Chassagne is characterised by dense woodland, a great variety of tree species and numerous remarkable trees such as giant sequoias and bald cypresses. Visitors use the park's freely accessible fitness trail, botanical educational trail, ponds, paths and wooded areas. Some trees along the botanical educational trail have dried up or disappeared. The ponds at the Domaine de Chassagne include recreational fishing.

The fitness trail in Parc de Chassagne consists of two loops: a large loop measuring 820 metres and a small loop measuring 540 metres.

Paths and leisure activities

Parc Renot has a freely accessible multisport city stadium. Fauverney also has a footpath and a footbridge crossing the Ouche; the municipality recently inaugurated this facility. The facility on the Ouche is intended to promote sustainable mobility, quality of life and accessibility for all. The project incorporates a footpath designed to make it easier to travel from the town centre to the football pitches and to the neighbourhood on Rue des Moulins.

History and townscape

Since at least the 12th century, a weir on the Ouche near Fauverney powered mills. A blast furnace built in Fauverney in 1827 processed ore from Malforêt, using wood from Boulouze for this purpose.

At Château de Chassagne, the municipality provides a hall for private events such as weddings and communions, as well as for institutional events. The Muteau family built a manor house next to the Chassagne estate, which was known as “le château”. The 11th-century Church of Saint George stands on a hill and is surrounded by the cemetery. Fauverney's covered rainwater washhouse dates from 1846 and is located on Rue de la Fontaine.

The place name “Pièce du Temple” preserves the memory of a former Templar presence in Fauverney; only this field name remains of the former site. A small statue of Saint George is passed from family to family in Fauverney every year to continue the tradition.
