Venarey-Les-Laumes: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Château de Venarey-les-Laumes is a fortified house that was reinforced in 1324; its present appearance dates back to a renovation carried out after 1735.

Culture

At the Port de Venarey-les-Laumes, buildings and older sections of wall recall a lime factory that was already operating there in the mid-19th century. The historic site of Abbaye Saint-Pierre et Saint-Prix, the Abbaye Saint-Joseph de Clairval monastery, and the Abbey of Fontenay monastery are also located in the vicinity of Venarey-les-Laumes. Further afield in the region of Venarey-les-Laumes is the Abbaye Saint-Jean-de-Réome monastery.

Two different circular routes are the highlights for walks and hikes: the easy « Du Village à la Montagne » circular trail is 9 kilometres long and starts and ends in Venarey-les-Laumes. The « Soupe de la Sorcière » circular trail begins at Montagne de Venarey; an accompanying booklet is available from the tourist office.

The wider range of leisure activities also includes Golf de la Brenne, a seven-hole golf course approved by the French Golf Federation. The flat, wooded course is surrounded by the La Brenne River and enables both beginners and experienced golfers to play golf.
