St Martin Sur Oust: Holiday apartments and houses

At Étang du Petit Moulin in Saint-Martin-sur-Oust, two different routes begin: an approximately one-hour walk to the Croix Gabriel de Villebonne and the Sentier Yves Rocher.

Nature and trails

The walk to the Croix Gabriel de Villebonne leads to a cross with panoramic views of the village of Saint-Martin-sur-Oust. The Sentier Yves Rocher is 2.5 kilometres long and runs along a small stream, allowing visitors to observe the local fauna and flora.

The Canal de Nantes à Brest runs through Saint-Martin-sur-Oust and has a footpath for exploring the landscape.

Culture and history

The Saint-Léonard Chapel is very probably the surviving remnant of a priory founded before 1162 by the Benedictine Abbey of Saint-Sulpice-la-Forêt near Rennes. A stone slab set into the wall above the western door bears the engraved year 1651.

The Château de Castellan was built in 1732, as indicated by the year engraved on both sides of the bull's-eye window on the front gable. The Croix des Friches is a 17th-century cross whose base bears the date 1886, the year it was re-erected.

Routes and fishing techniques

The Circuit des Moulins starts in Saint-Martin-sur-Oust and is designated as a 21-kilometre, moderately difficult mountain-biking route with an estimated duration of 2 hours and 30 minutes. The route passes through green spaces and by ponds, then reaches the hills between Saint-Martin-sur-Oust and Les Fougerêts, with several viewpoints, and includes a section through woodland.

The Atelier Pêche et Nature of the AAPPMA Pêches Loisirs de l’Oust, serving Saint-Martin-sur-Oust, Les Fougerets, Peillac and Glénac, has existed since 2017. It operates preferably during the school holidays from Easter onwards and offers indoor lessons as well as several outdoor excursions to teach fishing techniques.
